The men’s Cross country short track is one of the events included in the program of the mountain bike world championships. It has been running since the 2021 edition. The XCC races take their cue from the Xc Eliminator, a format introduced from 2010 to 2017 in the World Cup and then organize a separate championship always under the aegis of the UCI. The difference between XC Eliminator and Short Track is the fact that in the Eliminator you run in heats of 4, while in the Short Track you all start together.
The Short Track races see the first 40 of the UCI ranking at the start and the result of the race determines the starting grids for the XCO race of the following days. They last about 20 minutes and are held on circuits of 1-1.5 km (part of the XCO track) with times lap of about 2-3.
