In both the men’s and women’s races, the reigning Short Track world champions stand out. This shows how fast the route was: 87km for about 1000m of elevation gain. That’s why so many cross country athletes were there and gave marathoners a run for their money.

Sam Gaze wins the 2022 Marathon MTB world title after winning the Short Track in Val di Sole: behind him Andreas Seewald and Simon Andreassen.

Among the Elite women, Pauline Ferrand Prevot does not even miss the marathon world championship in this extraordinary 2022: after the cross country and short track title, she also wins the marathon title in front of Annie Last and Jolanda Neff.
